Every year in PAideia each campus has school-wide educational extravaganzas. In 2010 Julie Bartel organized a Roman Banquet and a Renaissance/Reformation Festival. Watch your newsletter for updates from Julie on this years spectacular happening.
Johnnie Seago depends on Julie for everything from managing her appointments on class days to researching books for the upcoming year. Julie and Johnnie work together a year in advance on the upcoming scope and sequence and book lists. Julie also writes the Bible and Scripture memory plans each year. Perhaps her most indispensible role is her affectionate title, “Dean of Common Sense.” Julie has five children: three who have graduated through Paideia, and two still enrolled.
Rachelle officially makes PAideia multi-generational: the daughter of Ted and Johnnie, Rachelle was taught classically, graduated, married, and now teaches her own five children through Paideia. She literally brings a life-time of experience to the North Campus in a returning role as Headmaster. You will find in Rachelle an instant friend, enthusiastic crusader, and organized leader.
Melanie connects all the dots on the academic side of Paideia. She coordinates all subjects with the goal of integration, assists in teacher training, helps select books and materials —and all this while teaching Culturative History, too. As supervisor, Melanie also evaluates the teaching staff on a regular basis. Melanie’s husband, Tom, is the Culturative History Rhetoric coordinator, and teaches Culturative History. The Goldens have three children and two grandchildren.
Some things you simply must go see. Dawn does a wonderful job arranging field trips and off – campus events. These trips make learning come alive. Dawn and her husband, Bobby, have one son in GR, a houseful of preschoolers at home.
When a family calls the PAideia telephone number, Tammy is likely the first friendly voice they hear. As registrar, Tammy maintains all official school records each year. She receives all registration forms and maintains the records for each campus.* Tammy and her husband, Walt, have three children enrolled in Paideia.
*Please note: PAideia is not accredited by any agency, and does not seek any accreditation. Therefore, student transcripts are not available from the Registrar for transfer students or college applications. PAideia does, however, have a service to help parents construct their own transcripts.
Erin oversees all areas of expansion for the PACES organization. Always upbeat and positive, Erin is continually on the lookout for needs PACES can meet and she brims with creative ideas to make the impossible happen. All Special Events also fall under her supervision. Have ideas for marketing or a fundraiser? Erin is the one to see.
Erin’s husband, Joey, directs the science and math classes in Paideiea, and they have eight children.
Jo Beth is a beloved face in the PAideia family. She has served as headmaster on campuses all over the greater Houston area, as well as having taught for PAideia subjects ranging from Architecture to Logic. Moms and students find her sympathetic and easy to talk to. JoBeth's five children are grown now, but a few often come back to campus, filling in or helping their mom.
Keeping the program's finances accountable and bills paid, Anita also understands the ministry heart of the PACES organization. She brings many years of CPA experience to her current role, and can answer all of your tuition and billing questions. Anita also coordinates and teaches dialectic Culturative History. She and her husband, Rolf, have three children in the PAideia program.
Melana develops and administers the educational, administrative, and practical resources for parents enrolled in PAideia. She visits each campus regularly for workshops on how to teach specific academic subjects, learning and teaching methods, and practical management skills, as well as coordinating webinars, conducting conference calls for teachers and parents, and writing resource materials for the program. Melana and her husband, Steve (the PAideia webmaster), have taught all six of their children at home over almost thirty years. Only one son is still at home in the PAideia program.
Cotillion is The Event of the spring semester, and Dana sees to it that this evening is special and spectacular for PAideia families. More than a lovely dinner and dance, Dana also organizes etiquette classes to teach students how to function in a formal adult setting, and arranges for ballroom dance classes to make the event memorable. Dana and her husband, Anthony, have two PAideia students.
Lori Trotter, Sock Hop
Sock Hop arrives in October as both the major school event of the fall semester and the only (and huge) fundraiser for operating expenses, equipment upgrades, PAideia faculty training and student scholarships. For several years Lori has made this event phenomenally fun and successful. She is a team player as well as a gifted and organized leader. She and her husband, Robert, have four children.
