This section of the handbook consolidates all of the materials and supplies families must obtain to implement the PAideia program. Although the requirements are specific, how you acquire these supplies is flexible: you are welcome to locate used uniforms, used books, or even public domain free books on the internet. Some study groups find they can share the larger spine books initially as the year begins (completing the assignments out of those books when working together), so families can buy the big books one at a time as the year progresses.
Our books are usually available in public libraries. Starting the year by checking some books out can stretch large financial outlays over more time.
The booklist is also divided into quarters, so that you do not need to buy everything at once. You may also get ‘warm weather’ uniforms in the fall, and wait to buy a sweater or hoodie until cold weather arrives—actually a good idea, considering that growing children often need a bigger size by Christmas, and family members may want gift ideas.

The intent of the dress code policy is to reduce individualism to help maintain a learning environment with limited distractions. It also insures a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance of students. The Headmaster has the authority to make final decisions when questions arise about the dress code.
Our 2011-12 Booklists will be posted as soon as they are finalized!

The supply lists for 2011 and 2012 are now available. Please use the links below to access the list for your student.

PAideia uses movies to accomplish several goals. First, movies are a time-efficient way to experience classics (for example, Shakespeare’s Julius Ceasar or Henry V). Second, the “flavor” of the culture—the dress, food, architecture, relationships, climate– comes through in this format.
Third, a general flow of historical events is often evident yet summarized. Fourth, we can evaluate the worldview and message of the director or producer, making students less susceptible to subtle messages in casual movie going.
Students are to select two movies per quarter to watch, fill in a questionnaire, and turn in. Study groups are great places to accomplish this requirement.
Look ahead and put these movies on a queue to rent or download.
The 2011 Movie List (Click HERE to download) includes summer movies as well as an important note about watching two movies BEFORE school starts.
